My Opinion of The White Girl
The White Girl is a famous painting created by James Abbott McNeill Whistler. Although its primary color is white, there are many different shades, including a bright white on her dress and one more greyish in color. That is very impressive, as it’s challenging to make different hues of white while still making it obvious that it is white, not another color. However, because he used so much white, it becomes hard to identify certain aspects of the painting as they all blend in together. A perfect instance of this would be the daisy that she is holding. The artist put time and effort into making that flower, yet because both the flower and the background are white, it’s as if it wasn’t there. However, at the bottom of the painting, the creator added other colors such as blue and red. This is highly beneficial for the rest of the painting as it changes it up a little and adds personality to the painting. Overall, this is an excellent painting as it looks extremely realistic, it is almost like you were in that exact room.

xxx, this is a difficult painting to describe, which is the reason I chose it. You met the challenge in fine fashion, revealing that you have the higher-level thinking skills to analyze the work of a major artist. You are writing like an 8th grader!

How the Colors of White Work Together
By: J. L.
The White Girl , painted by James Abbott McNeill Whistler, has mostly white seen in this artwork. Although it makes the painting look bland, all the different shades of white make what the picture unique. The woman is wearing a lighter colored white dress like something during a wedding. The curtains in the background are a darker shade of white. Those two shades of white work together and give a diverse look to the picture. The white dress makes the house look fancy and rich along with the curtains in the background. The white on the carpet is darker than the curtains because it is trying to give the carpet a distinctive look. All these different shades of white work together and alter the look of the painting. The large curtain in the background can give a clue that they have a large window. The bright white on the lady’s dress can give a hint that she was maybe at a formal event. The deeper white on the shoulder part of the dress is darker because it is curled in. The shade of white on the carpet blend in with the home to make it look appealing. The white colored flower that the lady is holding also gives an extra taste to the painting. The flower facing down also gives a clue that the mood of The White Girl could be gloomy. The girl also has a straight face which adds on to the mood. Most of the picture is white, and that might not be the best for a painting. Yet, the many shades of white all do their part and make the painting look visually alluring.

The White Girl by Whistler
In front of the silky, white curtains a fair woman stands. Her long, curly ginger hair contrasts amongst the gorgeous white dress she wears. The pale dress is draped over the young lady's sheer skin like snow. The milky white ranged from several different hues. A deep grey in the folds of the soft fabric, and a light cream Noun shown in a faint shadow underneath her rosy skin. A bright white was used to represent the slight highlights from the morning sun. The beaming luminescence casted an illusion making it seem like the dress was full of iridescent pearls. There was just a touch of brown, not too much to seem old but enough to make the dress rustic. The ivory shades amassed the dress making it fit for a wedding. Her sleeves were long, and the cloth on her shoulder puffed up like a lovely cloud. Her waist was adorned by a small bow though it might be tiny it was the center of the show. The floor was in contrast with the rest of the piece. Deep blues and dark purples stained the ground like the midnight sky. And vibrant flowers dotted the colorful floor a rainbow of greens, pinks, and reds. a shaggy wolf skin carpet was placed under the long trail of the young lady’s white dress. The fur was colored in several shades . F rom the color of desert sand, to the deep browns of a warm cup of hot chocolate. The wolf's head was perched upwards staring, just like the girl's expression, staring with her emerald green eyes, into the unknown future.
SUPERIOR: spelling, grammar, clarity, conciseness, formality, punctuation, vocabulary.

This is a difficult painting to describe, which is why I chose it. Yet, you have done a magnificent job with the wide variety of amazing adjectives you use. Your choice of multiple adjectives in succession adds richness to your language. Your conclusion is exceptionally strong with your descriptive metaphors of sand and chocolate. Symphony in White, No. 1: The White Girl
This famous oil painting features a girl in all white, standing against a backdrop of cream-colored drapes. She stares off into the distance with a vacant look on her face, her hair loose around her, like a waterfall of deep, rich color. In the young woman’s hand, she holds a flower, with other blooms falling from her hand to land at her feet. However, much in contrast to the young woman’s face, the head on the soft wolf-skin rug seems to be staring right at everyone, forever frozen in time. The smooth ivory curtains in the background might normally blend in with the white of the dress, but the artist uses a slight tint to change the color and distinguish which is which. If you look closely, you can also see the there is a pattern on the drapes, and a very different design on the dress, which is creating distinction between the two. The girl’s outfit has a very loose, free skirt, with fluffy sleeves of clouds and a pleated design on the sleeves and upper torso. Most of the painting’s white color creates an almost bland setting, but the girl’s hair and face, which have deep reds and browns, provide a relief from the alabaster theme of the artwork. Symphony in White, No. 1 is an exceptionally good example of art experimenting with color, texture, and pattern. In it, colors are used in unique ways, and textures are created from these colors, helping to develop the art and make it look more distinctive and realistic. Patterns created help to divide things and help people identify the different aspects and parts in a piece of art. This piece of art is a truly incredible one, with the amazingly visible texture and pattern on everything and the skilled use of one color in various shades.
SUPERIOR: spelling, grammar, clarity, conciseness formality, punctuation, & vocabulary
You have a great writing style which is complemented by your excellent use of modifier. Your vocabulary is advance. You have used good critical thinking to analyze a painting which can be difficult to describe. 😊

While looking at this painting dubbed as The White Girl painted by James A Whistler, I notice the various colors from white hues to a rusty red hue. This painting has many textures and details incorporated into it, making it seem overly complicated, like the brain. The curtains in the background have a slight pattern on them, giving the fabric a metallic and silky feel, making me want to touch that texture, as it is very pleasing. Her hair, through meticulous combinations of red and orange, looks puffy, and feels soft and airy. Those curls, also made with shades of red, are shaded beautifully, giving me another feel of buoyancy. The many shades of white in this painting work together to make shadows and highlights, texture and feeling. These hues of white, though all creating this illusion of a blank color, have many tints incorporated in them, making them quite different, but also the same. There are tints, of red, black, yellow, and many more. The fur rug, underneath her, feels shaggy and fluffy, though gruesome to look at, because of the pained expression on the dog’s face, still attached to the fur. The colors blended into it, with black, grey, and white, plus tints of red and yellow hidden, giving the rug’s fur volume and shape. The dog's features are articulated, showing the emotion expressed when killed. Blood, next to and underneath the fur, fades into the background, but gives an ominous vibe. Purple, green, and white were combined to make flowers, the final product positioned at the foot of this beautiful girl’s dress. Though not prominent, different hues were also used to make shadows on the once-alive flowers.

The Wealthy Girl with a Broken Heart
The White Girl reminds me of Rose from the 1997 movie “Titanic”. The girl in the painting has abundant frizzy brownish red hair. She looked like she was getting married but did not want to. Instead of looking jubilant (like you would on a wedding day), she looked torn and her shoulders are slumped. She held a bouquet in her hand, but due to her sadness, she dropped some of the flowers. I felt that her sadness was beyond tears. It is like the girl’s heart was pierced, stabbed into millions of pieces, then destroyed. Her miserable emerald-colored eyes were focused on something behind the painter. The rug on the floor surprised me; I thought the girl’s house would be very elegant, with silk, laces, or furniture encrusted with rare jewels. I did not think there would be a terrifying, yet cuddly, wolf-skin rug! Another thought was that maybe the girl was at a hotel or maybe a cruise ship. I can tell the girl is depressed because although the main colors are white, there was gray in many places which makes you feel gloomy. Perhaps the wolf-skin rug was another sign of creepiness and despair. The sharp teeth and frightening face of the lifeless canine sends a chill down your spine. The colors in the painting were cheerful, but somehow Whistler created a depressing and somber feeling. The fancy carpet had a very stylish pattern of blue, but the painter added dark colors that made the beautiful carpet shadowy. These characteristics James A. Whistler added clearly present the mood of the painting: melancholy, gloomy, and maybe scary.

The White Window
In the painting, The White Girl, the many layers of pale, pure, milky white paint forms many shades of white that flourish the beautiful and realistic but impenetrable painting. The background resembles soft, silky snow with flowers imprinted on it. At first glance of the painting, you can easily see a woman’s vibrant blood red hair, making you feel that the artwork is nice and elegant. The young woman seems to be lost in thought- as if she is trying to fit a puzzle in her mind, searching her lost thoughts in the labyrinth itself. As you view this in detail, it is as if the woman’s gown almost blends in with the white, flaky snowlike curtains, even though the different layers of white slightly create a border. Amongst the layers of ‘snow’, you can see the woman holding a small, limp almost invisible white flower. Although the woman’s hair stands out among the silky white curtains, when you take more time to inspect the painting, you can see a fluffy, shaggy wolf-skin carpet laid under the woman’s feet, as if stating animal cruelty of the past. On top of the wolf-skin carpet, several springtime flowers lay almost hidden, yet creating a resemblance of flowers on a grave. On the top right corner, you can see the signature and date of the painting, Whistler 1862. Overall, the painting, The White Girl, represents the elegance and cruelty of the past, as if a doorway welcoming us into a time traveling machine.
xxx, you have followed the directions well to compose an excellent final draft. This painting is indeed about the ‘excellence & cruelty of the past.” You explain that well!

The Russian Blue Cat
The Russian Blue Cat
It was quite a freezing day in Seattle to be running around looking for a small, grey door amongst the tall, magnificent buildings. “There it is!” exclaimed Yuzi’s mom. Yuzi and I bolted into the warm, sweet scented Neko cat bakery shop. We couldn’t wait for some refreshing drinks, delicious cookies, and to pet cute cats. We picked two green and pink cat shaped cookies, a decent amount of strawberry lemonade while our moms got some iced tea and headed to the cat room.
After I closed the door, I at first glance saw lonely Russian blue cat sitting on the top cat shelf. “Look at this cat!” I exclaimed as I sat the food down on a circular table. “That cat looks scary.” Said my mom as she glanced at the cat from her chair. I ignored my mom and walked to the cat toys only to see a black and white cat white a red collar. I then realized that there was also a cat sitting in a bunch of pillows, half sleeping. I grabbed a feathered toy attached on a string and placed the feathered toy on the second highest cat shelf in front of the bored blue cat.
I moved the toy further, as if a bird were silently walking away from the cat. The cat moved forward, preparing to jump down and pounce. I dragged the bird away, just to the edge of the second shelf. Just as silently as the lifeless toy, the cat jumped down and clawed the toy. I tugged at the feathered toy, making it fall to the last cat shelf. The cat pounced once more, although this time I let the cat have the toy. “How did you get that grey cat down? It’s scary- and not very social” commented my mom. “It isn’t scary, it’s cute!” I protested. Its piercing pale green eyes shifted to me as I took the toy. I then decided to look for more cats to play with.
Almost on cue, Yuzi shouted “Over here! There was literally a cat down here the whole time!” “Let me see!” I happily said as I made my way into a compartment built into the sofa. A sleepy, orange striped cat was laying inside. I softly stroked the cat’s soft silky fur. More cats emerged from a door as a ‘cat caretaker’ came out. I went to the door to see two remaining cats knocking down a trash can. When the ‘cat caretaker’ came out, I said “There’s cats knocking down the trash can!” “Oh, looks like these two are causing trouble again!” replied the caretaker.
After playing with most of the cats that Yuzi and I could find, the ‘cat caretaker’ came out and announced: “Today we have a cat getting adopted and they will be coming in about an hour! All the cats here are rescued, therefore they are available for adoption!” Then I thought, what if I adopted a cat? Wouldn’t that be great? I kept that in mind as I went to grab another feathery toy to lure the blue cat down once more. Little by little, the curious cat came down, and sat at the windowsill. “Do you think it will bite me if I touch the cat?” asked my mom. I softly caressed the cat’s back. “Maybe not.” I replied. My mom patted the cat’s head and took a picture.
A few minutes later, the people adopting a cat came in. The caretaker placed the striped, orange cat in the black cat carrier the people brought and handed the cat carrier to them. We all waved farewell to the cat, when my mom said, “It’s about time that we should leave as well, we only booked an hour.” “Can we please adopt the blue cat?” I asked, “Absolutely not- that cat seems very sly and clever- might destroy my furniture!” I ignored her and petted the blue cat for the last time. We then left the Neko shop.

Extracurricular Activities Enrich Our Lives and Days
The diversity in extracurricular activities incorporates many types of forms discussed by type, level of difficulty, subject, and more. There are many common activities, such as learning piano, as well as uncommon, and lastly, unexpected. Each of these categories are important, classifying many of the activities. Typology of these extracurriculars is quite important to children and adults alike. Before choosing, people must look at their interests, as well as the type of activity they might do, as some places might not offer an uncommon-skill-centered class. Many common activities are indulged by all people. They are called common for a reason; they are popular almost anywhere. Many sports that are played internationally are common in schools, as well as national-played ones; they are easy to find classes for. As sports can be found easily, so can music. Any place has music, whether it is traditional to the place, or a common practice. A known example of this is violin, which is common to see. Orchestras ordinarily have an excess, or a large amount, of violins, so many that they make up almost half of the whole group. This repeats in band, with clarinets and flutes. These activities would be easy to find classes to learn the skill.
Moving towards less-practiced activities, classes can be found, though there is no guarantee they are good or close to where you live. Uncommon activities, as suggested by the name, are found rarely, but are still practiced. For example, puppetry is practiced as an art form, as an extracurricular. Though, it is quite hard to find classes for it, as not many are interested in this. The number of classes offered is based on the amount of interest, as well as the founder’s passion; without interest, classes cannot be held, with a lack of students. For example, a teen in Charlotte, NC is interested in puppetry. Thus, he travels to Atlanta each summer for camp at the Center for Puppetry Arts.
Unexpected extracurriculars are rarely found in society, though still practiced. These extremely unique activities are usually looked upon as, by Ivy League Schools, great, as they look for different skills that students may have. Activities such as dragon boating, a rowing sport, are hard to find classes for, as they require 20 people. Many unexpected activities are not found or discovered. Though they exist, many have never heard of them.
Classification of these extracurriculars is important to many, to find which of diverse activities suits them. The amount of rarity determines the number of classes available, as well as the number of students. Whichever skill people choose to pursue, even for a little while, can be classed into a category of rarity.
The diversity, in extracurricular activities, incorporates many ..

Some Advice to Myself
Sometimes you do a lot of actions that are bad for you or to your friends and teachers, but you can change yourself, Mike. There are three ways to improve your behavior such as listening, asking important questions, and paying attention.
You must improve your listening; you always talk when your teacher makes important announcements. This will be annoying to your teacher and classmates. sometimes you shout when your teacher speaks, you interrupt your teacher that your teacher cannot finish his/her talking, so the class schedule will be interrupted too. This still effects your classmates; your classmates cannot hear what teachers are talking about, so that really interrupted the whole class. Think about it; the class is interrupted by you just because that you are talking when the teacher talks.
Likewise, you always ask a lot of useless questions. I know that you really want to ask some questions that you think that is important to the class, but they are actually ridiculous. If you always ask those silly, nonsense questions, the class will be interrupted by you. The teacher cannot let the class go on, the students cannot think, and the schedule will be messed up by you. If you want to learn more, you need to stop asking worthless questions; this is good for you and for everyone else.
Furthermore, you need to pay more attention to what your teacher said. That will probably solve the second problem that I talked about before, and it might solve fifty precent about the first problem that you have. So, this is the most important part: paying attention. Focusing seems easy, but it is quite hard because no one can make sure that they are paying attention anytime, anywhere. So, I need you to improve on concentrating-maybe just a little every day-then you will be a good listener and inquirer. If you do not pay attention you will ask silly questions and not follow the instructions. That is dreadful for you, Mike.
Here is the advice that I will give you, Mike. If you cannot pay attention, listen, and ask useful questions you will not learn and interrupt your classmates.

How I Can Change the World Now
By J. L.
Informational / Expository Essay
There are many ways the Earth is being harmed. From cars to factories, there are just too many instances when the world is being polluted. But there are some ideas to help. It doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still do something. Even normal people, that don’t know much about climate change, can help. You can recycle more items, stop driving as much, or just not litter in public.
To begin with, recycling is one of the most known ways to keep the environment clean. You just throw plastic, glass, or paper in recycling bins and it will be reused. If you throw plastic into a trash can, then it will be thrown away forever. If you recycled the plastic, it will be reused and made into something new. Glass, which can stay a long time without breaking, is terrible for the environment. Glass doesn’t decompose easily and stays for thousands to millions of years. That is why people should pay more attention to recycling and stop throwing reusable material away when they can be recycled.
In addition to that, most cars today run on gasoline. They create a lot of exhaust that has chemicals and goes into the air. There are dangerous gases like Carbon called Greenhouse Gases. They are called that because they trap the heat in. Energy from the sun beams down to Earth and gets trapped in because of gases in the atmosphere. Nitrogen Dioxide, which harms the lungs, is also found in car exhaust. To reduce the amount of driving, you can walk or bike to nearby places. Those are two great ways to practice not driving as much.
Finally, littering is a very large problem. If you head to a local park, you have a high chance of at least seeing some bits of trash in the grass. Some people don’t care about throwing their garbage into a trash bin and just let nature take care of it. Littering is a very large problem even in the ocean. Rubbish can get stuck in animal’s mouths and they can choke on it. Plastic, which can lead sea animals to drown, is dumped into the ocean every single year. Yet, that doesn’t mean you can't do something it. Regardless of age, you can spread the word around your community. Alert anybody or everybody about the crisis and see where it goes. Your words might spread father than you expect one day.
In conclusion, there are many ways the Earth is being harmed today. There might be some trash being dumped into the ocean the second we are speaking. But regardless of age, you can still help. Recycling, driving less, and not littering are great practices that reduce the amount of damage to any environment. Spreading the word, to friends and family, can help the ecosystem a lot. There are far too many ways the world is being polluted, and we can’t stop them all. Remember that the slightest acts could have a tremendous impact one day.
SUPERIOR: spelling, clarity, conciseness, formality , punctuation, vocabulary. 😊
Introduction: good preview of the main ideas of the body paragraphs. 😊
Excellent transitions! 😊

Informational Writing
The Most Important Quality in Friendship
Everyone has a different character trait that they look for in finding a new friend. Some might have one trait that they are looking for, some may have two, others may have three. But I have one, and that one trait is understanding. I have many reasons why the trait that I look for in finding new friends is understanding. Someone will be able to help you when you need it the most. A buddy will be there by your side to comfort you if nobody else can. And finally, you will have someone that make sure that you will never have to have those long sobbing moments most people have to go through.
To begin with, I look to see if people are understanding because if you have an understanding friend, you will have someone by your side. It’ll help you in real life situations such as if you are upset, you will have a buddy to be able to cheer you up. For instance, if something life changing or even something not happened, but you are upset from it, you will have a caring friend to help you stop thinking about it. They will try their best to comfort you, make you smile, and focus on the bright side of everything. Once something life changing had happened to me and my family, and it was really upsetting, but luckily for me, my best friend is very understanding. And when I told her about it, she started crying! But she thought that it wasn’t the right thing to do, and she comforted me, made me laugh, and before I could even blink, I was smiling, and my friend was too! So, as you can see, if you have an understanding friend, you will be able to make real moments with your friend(s).
Another reason why I look for the trait understanding in finding new friends is because having a caring friend means that when you go through your moments of sadness, it won’t last long at all. Because you will have a trusted companion to be able to make sure you snap right out of it and keep a smile on your face. Also, having a considerate friend means that you will be able to have someone to talk to when you need to get all your stress out. For example, holding in your stress for too long can cause health issues such as heart problems, anxiety, depression, and so many other terrible things. Yet, having someone that you trust, you can talk out your stress and your pal will understand you and figure out what is best to help you.
The final reason holding up my opinion of how people should look for the trait understanding in finding new friends is because if you have someone that cares about you, you will most likely never feel lonely. Considerate friends will always have deep feelings for their other pals. For example, they will listen to their buddies’ conversations and always comfort them if they are upset. Most of my friends are understanding. They always distract me when I’m upset, with all good thoughts. They make sure I don’t spend my time thinking of all the bad situations and stay on the bright side.
Understanding friends always make sure that they have done their best to comfort their friends who need it the most. Most of my friends are very considerate. When I’m upset, whether I’m showing it mentally or physically, they know it. They would immediately ask what’s wrong and tell me that I should tell them instead of holding it in, which is the right thing to do. They don’t just say “it’s ok” or something like “it’ll be fine” like they barely care, they dive deep into me and know how to help me. They might say funny jokes to make me laugh and make me have a smile on my face, or they might think about the things in the bright side, telling me things that they know I like to hear.
To sum it up, there are a lot of reasons to why I look for the character trait understanding in finding new friends. Having an understanding friend means that someone will always be there for you. When you are sad and alone, you won’t be for long because someone will be there to cheer you up and save you from drowning in sorrow’s thoughts. Isn’t friendship mainly about having someone to trust and care for you? Well I believe so. I believe that the trait understanding is something that all people should look for in finding new friends.

Stereotypes Around the World
Even in the world today stereotypes against minorities have been severely normalized. These stereotypes are commonly misconceptions, and do not have truth behind them. Yet, so many people believe Asian’s must be smart, African Americans are dangerous, Hispanics are illegal, sadly this list goes on and on. Despite these generalizations calming down throughout the years, racial discrimination is still as active as ever. This makes Asian Americans, Middle Eastern, and Latinos seen as a role in society in which they are not.
There are several common misconceptions among the Asian community, many of which are false. When thinking of someone who is Asian, to many people the image in their mind consists of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean people. Their eyes are usually small and slanted upwards, their skin yellow, and are abnormally good at math. Maybe their names are Ching-Chong and speak in broken English. But, they are so much more than that. Asia is an extremely diverse continent some don’t realize countries like India, Afghanistan, and Cambodia are all part of the Asian American community. Not all Asians know how to speak English, and most of them definitely don’t look like their eyes are closed. Some Asian-Americans have the future to be doctors, lawyers, and engineers. Though it is true most parents of Asian heritage are strict not all of them limit their child’s careers like society says. This severe racism has even intensified throughout the Covid 19 pandemic. When the deadly virus was noted to have originated from China the stereotypes gained more momentum. Asians, even those who were not even Chinese to begin with, were called bat, dog, and snake eaters. They were bullied on the streets, and abused at random times. The role Asians are projected in the world has to be changed, they are not people who are asked to do math homework they are an extremely diverse group of talented beings.
Several notable events have shaped the way the Middle Eastern are looked at. From 9/11 to the multiple wars America has fought in the Middle East. Many people who have Muslim heritage are shown as terrorists. This stereotype is completely wrong as many people who live in America that have families who are Middle Eastern weren’t part of any of the events when they have happened. Arabs are discriminated against by being shown as people who are a threat or spies for countries in the Middle East. It has been normalized to associate the words terrorism and the Middle East. Though many groups such as ISIS and Al Qaeda have all originated from that area, does not necessarily mean all 441 million people that live there are terrorists like such groups. Muslim culture has also constantly been mocked. In Arab culture many women cover their hair and even their eyes; this style of apparel has been severely mocked by the public. Perhaps one of the most significant examples of this is the famous Disney animated film Aladdin the film’s opening verse began “I come from a land from a far-away place/Where they cut off your ear if they don’t like your face/It’s barbaric, but hey, it’s home.” This itself is extremely racist. The magical land Agrabah is shown as the sandy yellow dessert most people assume the mMiddle East is. In the film both protagonists are shown to be pale, have western features, as well as American accents. On the other hand all the other characters are shown to have thick Middle Eastern accents and hooked noses. Not only do people portray the Middle Eastern’s as terrorists in society, but also continuously mock their own culture.
When a stop to illegal migration was put down, especially through the Mexico/Texan border, tons of Hispanics faced; large amounts of racism and stereotyping against them. Even in the news media Mexicans are more likely to be reported of convictied of crime and drug related accidents. Latino men are described as buff, uneducated, and aggressive. Women are described as lazy and loud. Latino characters usually lack diversity, especially in animated films. The skin shade in many Hispanic inspired movies are not darker than copper; many parents (especially fathers) are absent or irresponsible. Latino’s might be portrayed as poor or wearing large colourful sombreros. Another factor widely represented in American culture is the interchangeable use between symbols like guitars, and skulls with Hispanic heritage. Not that this is fully wrong per say, but many films use these incorrectly. Another misconception is that all Latinos speak Spanish. Latino is an umbrella phrase given to people who live in Latin America, but this does not mean they speak Spanish. For example, people living in Brazil speak Portuguese. Latino culture is also extremely present in American culture today, many common foods such as tacos, burritos, and churros were all adapted from Latino culture. Instruments like Maracas and Day of the Dead skulls are all from Mexico.
Overall, every minority has a different representation of the world today. Many of them are wrong and commonly misconceptions, but slowly but surely people are learning from these mistakes. People can see how diverse each culture is, and how no two can be the same. Films and media should hire people of that culture to create films inspired by other nations; instead of being mocked cultural differences should be appreciated. The role of stereotypes in society will always be present, but with more people learning about all the effects it has, misconceptions can decrease.
Xxx, the time, and effort you have put into this essay are commendable. You cover the topic thoroughly, especially when your examples are considered. This final draft shows improvement over your original effort. 😊

Thank you for taking the time to carefully revise your essay. This fine composition is your final draft.
Mr. Porter
Dear Ms. Marques,
You may have known that we students like to eat snacks during the school period, but you never allow us to eat during class. I am writing this letter to try and persuade you to allow us to have snacks. First of all, eating snacks and food can keep students awake. Second, eating snacks can let more students stay focused. Finally, it is difficult to cope with hunger until it is snack or lunch time.
You’ve heard and gotten messages that some students fall asleep during class, but when it is snack time they are wide awake like they were hit by an electric shock. My classmate Grayson who sits next to me always fall asleep or act drowsy. Grayson could never pay attention to my teacher’s lesson, so whenever our table are doing table work together. Grayson would always do the questions wrong, and he would argue with my tablemates and I about how to do the questions. If we could eat snacks during class, I doubt Grayson would fall asleep all the time.
Teachers and parents like to hear that their students and kids pay attention and focus during class because, then the students would probably get an A on their test or quiz. Unfortunately, some students actually play games on their computers during class. This would not keep them focused at all! Studies shown that eating snacks during class can keep students more focused during the school period. If you allow us to eat snacks during class, the snacks can keep the students all focused. If the students are attentive, then we would probably be one of the top schools for having good grades!
When students are learning during class it’s often difficult to cope with hunger until lunch. Hungry kids would groan and complain to teachers. If I was an educator dealing with kids like this, I would probably quit my job. You should allow us to have snacks to let the teachers be able to deal with students. It’s not only us that’s hungry, it also affects the instructor’s teaching.
Ms. Marques, I have given you my most important reasons on why we should eat during class. First, it can keep students awake. Second, food helps make kids stay more focused. Finally, it’s difficult to cope with hungry students until lunch. Also, it’s not like kids would put their full attention on eating; they still will learn. This is why I think you should let us eat snacks during class.

Snacks Help the School’s Learning Environment
A student is sitting in history class listening to the teacher; it is a boring lecture. Suddenly, her stomach grumbles. The girl searches through her backpack and picks up a pack of crackers, and silently chews them. With a swift turn of her head, the teacher glares at the student and states, “Put those snacks away unless you want detention.” Mortified, the child tucks the snacks away, and is forced to endure the rest of the hour without food. Her stomach growls and she is aching for hunger, but the girl cannot eat anything. This further makes the student more angsty. She wants the class to end quicker so she could go to lunch, so she quickly loses focus in the lesson. As to answer the question “Should kids be allowed to snack in school?” I strongly believe they should for several reasons including increasing attention, re-energizing students, and helping camaraderie.
Healthy snacks give students energy to propel them during the school day. The brain is like a computer, sending codes and algorithms to different parts of the body everyday. Like any part of a computer the brain needs to charge, and power snacks are the key to doing this. Especially, in school where your brain is digesting more information than ever, people need to fuel it with different snacks. According to the University of Pittsburg Medical Center (UPMC) power foods like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and legumes are full of necessary vitamins. These foods give you energy because they are filled with high energy carbs, lean protein, and glucose. Antioxidants such as fresh berries or dark chocolate can help can keep the brain fresh, and Dietary Cholesterol like dairy and egg yolks can increase the cells that send messages to the rest of the body.
Food can also re-energize tired students. Some days children might be tired and bored from listening to the teacher lecturing. However, if they eat something like fresh fruit it could re-energize them. This is because foods are full of nutrients and have the tactic to make kids feel fresh in their mind. Studies have shown that snack breaks can reawaken tired students, help older children who have long class periods or late lunches, and increase test scores. In fact, Jennifer Brozadack writes that school sponsored breakfasts and lunches have historically proven to increase test results.
Lastly, by allowing snacking in school it increases camaraderie. This essentially means it can help increase traits like teamwork and friendship. For example, if one student has a chocolate bar and another has some fruit, they can trade with each other, causing a friendship to bloom. More than likely in Elementary school kids would bring cupcakes or ice cream for their birthdays. This can make students feel happy, excited, and welcome to the class. By sharing food with others, it shows that people are kind, giving, and generous. For upperclassmen, some may decide to host a project that includes edible treats. Everyone is more likely to participate in the event if food is involved.
Overall, the benefits of snacking in classes outweigh the harms. They can even help make the classroom a better learning environment. Superfoods can keep students more energized, focused, and less angsty. This in turn can benefit teachers and keep students' attention. It is also proven that snacks directly increase the scores of test grades. They also help generate a generous, welcoming, and kind attitude with peers. By sharing or bringing food it can help create more important friendships throughout school. So, I urge you to bring some food to snack on. Then, you might notice that food is not a distraction, but a necessity for a healthy and happy learning environment.
